I’ve never been a morning person. I thought staying in bed until the very last minute was a guilty pleasure. And then, I’ve never been late so, everyone’s happy, everything’s alright.

Last year, I think it was December, I started waking up early because of a health problem. I thought it would have been such a big effort to me waking up at 6 AM, it was cold outside, and dark, and I could feel lonelier. And guess what? None of those things happened to me. Step by step, I’ve built up my routine (even if it’s not perfect yet, but I work on it every single day) and now I realize how much benefits I’ve earned.

There are a lot of studies which explain that waking up earlier could be an amazing habit, and I totally agree. You could have better mental health, you could see benefits in your sleep and mood too. And last but not the least, waking up earlier gives you some extra time for yourself, starting the day sipping your coffee in peace, reading a few pages of your book in silence, or, why not, going out for a walk adding extra steps or starting morning meditation as well. I told you, before I started waking up earlier I‘ve never been late but I was always on the run and full of anxiety. Now I start my day with calm and everything seems different.

I don’t know if morning people are happier, but I’m sure that this little habit can be a game-changer in your life. I know, everybody is different, so I think that it’s all about finding out what works best for you.

I’ve tried these hacks and they worked for me. Choose what works best for you and start to wake up earlier.

Your morning starts the night before
The most important advice I can give you is to be center on you goal. You have to reset your mind because starting new habits couldn’t be so easy.
So, you have decided to wake up earlier, what to do? The night before prepare yourself, set your alarm just fifteen minutes earlier, then thirty minutes and so on. Don’t be hasty, changes need time.
Before going to bed, I prepare everything I need the day after.

There’s one thing that I love to do every night, turning off all my devices at least thirty minutes before going to bed. It’s essential for my eyes and my mind. I need to restore and concentrate my attention on that moment. It seems an advice with no importance, but I have to tell you: it is fundamental.
Doing this prepares yourself for a restful sleep, and you have to help your body and mind to be more morning-oriented. The more you have a better quality sleep, the easier will be being a morning person. Now it’s time to go to bed, be sure to get at least seven hours of sleep.

The more you’ll be consistent, the easier and easier will be waking up earlier in the morning. The best thing you can do is follow your night routine in order to help yourself to accept new changes in your life. Little by little you’ll see the results.

Your alarm clock is ringing

You have get your seven hours of sleep, it’s time to waking up! Sometimes I like to start my morning with some stretch series, just two or three simple movements to wake up my body gently.
As you have a bedtime routine, you can build your morning routine. I like to prepare a warm cup of coffee or tea, eating my homemade granola. I have time to prepare my vegan pancakes, and this was unimaginable before being a morning person. My favourite morning is when I open the window, I like to see when outside is still dark, and the sun slowly rises. I’m in my kitchen with my little cat, sipping my coffee eating a nourishing breakfast and reading my currently book.
I told you that I’m still working on my morning routine. That’s why I want to start journaling to focus on my day, focus on my mind and my needs. I think it could be amazing.
The key word is slowness, center your goal by changing your old habits by creating new ones helping yourself in this new journey. No one is chasing you. Take your time. Feel free to enjoy this extra time, because this time will make your day more productive, it will make yourself more active.
I want to try this hack too: track my mood and energy level to see how waking up earlier can improve my physical and spiritual health.
Moreover, it’s just a week I started practicing meditation before having breakfast and I think it helps me to be more concentrate on my inner needs. I can visualizing all my purposes and reaching them with so much less effort than before. I have a mindful and intentional life now.

I hope these tips can help you not only to be a morning person but to live a better life.
